The AquaSource Greensand Plus Iron Filters enable you to enjoy cleaner, stain free laundry, cleaner dishes and fresher tasting water while protecting your plumbing pipes and fixtures. The system is effective in removing not only iron but manganese, H2S sulfur odour as well as radium and arsenic.
The system is controlled by a proven Fleck 5 cycle control valve and a specially designed feeder cartridge containing potassium permanganate used in the regeneration of the filter media.
In operation, the water passes through the filter bed, it comes in contact with the oxygen charged manganese greensand media. This causes the iron and other minerals to oxidize into particles which can be trapped in the filter bed. Eventually the manganese greensand looses its oxygen charge and regeneration is necessary. In regeneration, the filter bed is cleaned and then a measured quantity of potassium permanganate is drawn from the feeder through the filter bed, recharging it with oxygen. Two rapid rinses ready the bed to filter your water again.
